Dynamic Friction Coefficient

It simulates the mechanical function of end products by 3D printing parts using PolyJet photopolymers with precise dynamic friction coefficients — all in a single build.

Friction is the resistance that one surface or object encounters when moving over another. The friction coefficient of a prototype’s surface simulates the end product’s mechanical properties. A well–designed prototype that takes friction into consideration will have an improved grip for the end user, reduced part wear, simulated movement functionality and sliding abilities.

Living Hinges 

PolyJet 3D Printing materials, including Rubber–like Digital Materials, have excellent elongation–to–break characteristics and superior tear resistance that can be used for flexible hinges that can be used over and over without breaking. You can now create long–lasting, functional prototypes of products with thin flexible hinge (flexure bearing) made from plastic that joins two rigid parts.
