Up to 70% refresh rate for Nylon 12!
SLS 3D printers can print using a combination of fresh, unused powder and recycled powder from prior prints. The recommended refresh rate indicates the percentage of the new cartridge that undergoes ‘refreshing’ with pristine powder. For instance, the initial print for any user comprises an entirely new powder, yielding a refresh rate of 100%. Conversely, a print exclusively using recycled powder would register a refresh rate of 0%.
Although a lower refresh rate correlates with reduced cost per part, excessive use of recycled powder can result in material property degradation over successive cycles. Therefore, determining the optimal refresh rate for each new cartridge is crucial, considering various influencing factors.
