Ti64 (DM Studio System)

Titanium alloy for high-performance applications

Ti64 is a titanium alloy with high strength and excellent corrosion resistance that makes it ideal for a wide range of applications in many industries including medical devices.

From medical devices to gearboxes.

A titanium alloy for high-performance applications.

The composition of the Ti64 alloy is made of titanium, aluminum and vanadium. It is ideal for prototyping medical devices such as tweezers, forceps, clamps, suture instruments as well as for 3D printing specialty automotive components, including connecting rods and gearboxes for racing. Its material properties are well known to be a high strength-to-weight ratio and corrosion resistance.

Fuel-Injector-Nozzle_Ti64-desktop metal

Fuel Injector Nozzle

Material: Ti64 (Titanium)

Fuel injector nozzles are critical for safe and reliable operations in the aerospace industry, where they are responsible for driving fuel into a burner for propulsion.

Full Description

This part features internal channels that can improve burner performance, but they’re almost impossible to fabricate by conventional manufacturing processes.

Titanium is an essential material for this application type as the nozzle must withstand extreme temperatures and pressures while remaining lightweight. With Studio System 2, engineers can test many design variations of the nozzle in just days, with as many as four versions of the nozzle printed in less than 24 hours.

Drone-Coupling_Ti64-desktop metal

Drone Coupling

Material: Ti64 (Titanium)

A drone coupling fastens two assemblies together on a drone frame. One of the main challenges with drones is battery life, which is predominantly determined by the drone’s weight.

Full Description

Produce the coupling in titanium to reduce weight while maintaining the structural integrity required for the drone frame. The Studio System 2 supports low-volume production of this part in quantities of 15 to 25 per week before moving it into mass production, all without any tooling or machining necessary.

Telescope-Focus-Ring_Ti64-DEsktop metal

Telescope Focus Ring

Material: Ti64 (Titanium)

Small telescope focus rings hold lenses in place on a mobile telescope. It has multiple motors that are used to position and focus the lenses.

Full Description

3D printing the rings in Ti64 ensures that all components are lightweight, permitting the use of smaller motors and reducing the wear on the components and the overall assembly cost. Typically, this part is produced in low volumes, requiring investing in expensive tooling or custom fixtures using conventional manufacturing processes.

Studio System 2 supports printing up to six focus rings in less than 24 hours, which would be ready for installation in a matter of days
