3D PRINTING

If you can imagine it, we can print it.
3D Printing is ushering in the next generation of product development and rapid prototyping.

The 3D Printing Process

Bring to life your ideas and sketches by creating 3D printed models, prototypes and end-use parts. A 3D printing process will create amazing results for your special projects at the click of a button. The following illustrations describe the process of how a 3D printed model is created starting with the prototyping stages. Contact the Proto3000 Services Team for further information on how we can help you with this solution. If you want to speak to a LIVE PERSON - CALL 1-888-88-PROTO (77686).

Process 1. Create a 2D drawing of your  idea with CAD software or simply sketch your rapid prototyping model on a piece of paper.

Process 2. Our Services department will take the drawing and design it for you on a CAD software by illustrating how your model will look once it is printed.
Once it is approved by you, the CAD .STL file will be sent to our 3D printer for processing.

Process 3. Our FDM or Polyjet based 3D printer reads the design from the .STL file and lays down precise layers of your selected material(s) onto the build tray. Once the prototype or model is 3D printed, our manufacturing technician will remove the tray and the part from our 3D printer for further finishing steps.  Process 4. (a) The 3D printed model, if it is created with Polyjet materials, will be cleaned from the support material, by using high-power water jets and other cleaning tools to produce amazing results and match your model with the CAD design. Printing with FDM materials creates a more rough feel and look of your prototypes. Smoothing FDM products requires more extensive finishing processes, such as sanding, gluing and painting with a stronger polish.

Process 4. (b) The Finishing Touch Smoothing Station polishes Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) parts to near injection-molded quality with minimal operator intervention.  Process 5. Your 3D printed model, end-use part or prototype is ready in time for a tradeshow, presentation or a sales pitch.
