High Temperature Resistant Materials

High temperature resistant materials have the capability of heat deflection right off a 3D printer’s tray. PC, PPSF and ULTEM*9085 and PC-ISO materials are 3D printed with Fused Deposition Modeling technology. FDM materials are used for industries, such as automotive, aerospace and medical industries. They are heavy duty materials where PC (polycarbonate) has superior mechanical properties, PPSF has high heat and chemical resistance and ULTEM*9085 also has high heat resistance qualities. PC-ISO is not only high temperature resistant; it is also a bio-compatible material.

Polyjet High Temperature material (RGD525) has an exceptional dimensional stability and is ideal for applications such as hot air and water testing. It is mostly used for household pipes, taps and thermal functional testing. Combine high temperature Polyjet materials with Rubber-like materials to produce Shore A values and rigid functional materials for higher temperature resistance. It will also allow you to print high temperature parts with overmoling. 

The Accura Bluestone features exceptional stiffness, excellent accuracy and high temperature resistance. It is ideal for applications, such as wind tunnel testing, lighting designs and hot air and water handling and testing. Nylon materials for Selective Laser Sintering are ideal for precise 3D printing for housings, consumer sporting goods and complex plastic goods. Create accurate and heat resistant parts or models with basic and composite nylon materials. DMLS Metals are the perfect material for heavy duty tasks that require elevated heat resistance. DMLS materials are durable and ideal for engineering, automotive, aerospace applications which require dimensional stability.

(HDT or Heat Deflection Temperature is the measure of a material temperature at which a polymer or plastic deforms under a specified load).

FDM  Polycarbonate-ABS (PC-ABS)  

PC-ABS is one of the most widely used industrial thermoplastics. The combination of Polycarbonates and  ABS allow the Fortus FDM machines to 3D print manufacturing tools and parts with a superior heat resistance, a higher strength capacity and the flexibility of the ABS material.

HDT: @ 66 psi 280℉/138℃ and @ 264 psi 261℉/127℃​

A thermoplastic material which is the strongest, most heat resistant biocompatible material available for Fused Deposition Modeling. It is gamma (radiation) and ethylene oxide (EtO) sterilizable and complies with 10993 and USP Class IV. The material is ideal for products which require higher strength biocompatibility and sterilization.

HDT: @ 66 psi 271℉/133℃ and @ 264 psi 260℉/127℃​

Polyphenylsulfone (PPSF) is a material with high heat and chemical resistance. It has good mechanical strength and resistance to petroleum and chemical solvents. It is gamma (radiation) and ethylene oxide (EtO) sterilizable. It works with breakaway support material that can be easily cleaned in the Fortus Finishing Touch Smoothing Station. Ideal for producing medical devices for sterilization.

HDT: @ 66 psi N/A and @ 264 psi is 372℉/189℃

FDM  ULTEM* 9085

The ULTEM* 9085 is a flame retardant high performance thermoplastic designed for direct digital manufacturing and rapid prototyping. It is mostly ideal for the transportation industry. It has a high strength to weight ratio and great FTS rating (flame, smoke, toxicity).

Polyjet High Temperature Materials 

The Polyjet RGD525 has exceptional dimensional stability for thermal function testing of static 3D-models. The high-temperature material has a heat deflection temperature (HDT) of 63–67 °C (145-153 °F) upon removal from the printer which can be increased to 75-80°C (167-176 °F) after thermal post treatment in a programmable oven.

SLA  Accura Bluestone 

The Accura Bluestone is a durable and stiff nano-composite material. It has high temperature resistance and high humidity resistance capabilities. You can create highly precise parts with the Accura Bluestone material due to the material being exceptionally stiff and with no deformation under heavy loads.

HDT: 149-151℉/65-66℃ and with Thermal Postcure 513-543℉/267-284℃

SLS  Nylon 12 PA 650 

The Nylon 12 PA 650 is a white coloured material which has excellent surface resolution and feature details. The chemical resistance and low moisture absorption allows the material to be used for creating designs or prototype plastic parts. It is durable material and perfect for producing snap-fit prototypes.

HDT: @ 0.45 MPa 177 ℃ and @ 1.82 MPa 86 ℃​

SLS  Nylon 12 GF (Glass-filled) 

The Nylon 12 GF is a light grey coloured material which has excellent mechanical stiffness and elevated temperature resistance. The Nylon 12 GF is a dimensionally stable material and is perfect for creating functional prototypes and parts that will withstand rugged functional testing. It is heat resistant while retaining its original flexibility and physical properties.

HDT: @ 264 psi 273℉/134℃ and @66 psi 354℉/ 179℃

SLS Nylon 12 AF (Aluminum-filled) 

The Nylon 12 AF is a grey-metallic coloured polyamide material created for selective laser sintering. It has improved tensile and flex (stronger and stiffer) parts. Offers good wear resistance and highly detailed production features. It is an excellent material for applications which require superior surface finishing.

HDT: @ 264 psi 273℉/134℃ and @66 psi 354℉/ 179℃ ​

DMLS  Aluminum 

The AlSi10Mg is an aluminum alloy in fine powder form that has been specially optimized for direct metal laser sintering. AlSi10Mg  is a typical casting alloy with great casting properties and used for parts with thin walls and complex geometry. The aluminum is combined with silicon and magnesium which results in a significant increase in strength and hardness. It features good dynamic properties and is used for parts required for high loads.

DMLS Maraging Steel 

The MaragingSteel MS1 is a metallic coloured pre-alloyed ultra-high strength steel in fine powder form. It has very good mechanical properties and is easily heat treatable using a simple thermal age-hardening  process to obtain excellent hardness and strength.

The StainlessSteel PH1 is a pre-alloyed stainless steel and metallic coloured material which sets in fine powder form. StainlessSteel PH1 has a good corrosion resistance and excellent mechanical properties, especially in its hardened state.
